Clara Mae (Burke) Delaney

Clara Mae (Burke) Delaney, 92 years of Uniontown, PA passed away peacefully Saturday, September 8, 2018. She was born July 28, 1926 in Upper Middletown, PA.

Preceding her in death were her parents Charles and Althea (Cupp) Burke, a first husband Joseph Dean, a second husband Alfred Delaney, three sisters, Shirley Joiner, Jean Younkin and Dorothy Elizabeth Trimble and four brothers, Smith, Charles, George and William “Buddy” Burke.

Clara was a graduate of the Dunbar Township High School Class of 1945 and a faithful member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She formerly worked for Pechin’s Market as a produce manager and earlier had worked for the Keystone Fireworks Company. In her later years she was named the 2009 PA Senior Newspaper Carrier of the year. Clara loved baking apple pies and twice won the apple pie contest at the Fayette County Fair and twice entered the apple pie bake off in Harrisburg, PA. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Dean and wife Pamela of Melbourne, FL, James Dean and wife Karen of Los Lucas, NM and Joseph Dean, Jr. and wife Debra of Connellsville, PA, six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert “Bob” Burke and wife Claudia of Cranbury, NJ.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Saturday, September 15th, from 10 AM to noon when services will begin with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery Smock, PA.
