Kenneth James Smell, Sr.

Kenneth James Smell, Sr., 61, of Fairchance, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019, after a long battle with cancer, at his home with loving family at his side.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Claude Smell.

Ken owned and enjoyed his own cleaning business, Smell Cleaning Services, for over 30 years. He loved bowling and pets, especially his own, and could easily start a conversation with any four legger. Ken was a talented artist, a loving husband and father and a caregiver to his mother-in-law, whom he came to know very well.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carol (Shea) Smell, a son Kenneth J. Smell, Jr. and companion Becky of Mt. Lebanon, PA, mother, Joan (Fitzpatrick) Russman Smell of California, PA, sister, Karen Amrhein and husband Mike, many brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Saturday, February 16th, from 1 to 3 PM. The funeral service will begin at 3 PM with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers Ken requested memorial donations be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org; and/or ASPCA, at aspca.org/ways-to-give to make a one-time donation.
