Samuel K. Glisan

Samuel K. Glisan, 89, of Uniontown, PA, formerly of Fairchance, PA passed away peacefully Thursday, October 10, 2019. He was born September 14, 1930 in Uniontown.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Samuel H. and Madeline (Hart) Glisan, wife June (Miller) Glisan, sister, Nancy Glisan Steele and nephew, Scott W. Steele.

Samuel was a salesman with Wilson Company and A and W Company prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairchance, Fayette Lodge No. 228 F&AM, Syria Shrine and Caravan No. 9. Samuel was the former mayor of Fairchance and served three terms on the Fairchance Borough Council, had been a volunteer fireman and delivered meals on wheels. He loved Fairchance and everyone who lived there. He never met a stranger and was liked by all who knew him.

Surviving are two daughters, Marla Kelly and husband Daniel of Fairchance and Vicki G. Bortz and husband Paul of Boynton Beach, FL, four grandchildren: Daniel Kelly and wife Kitsa of Annandale, VA, Sarah Simpson and husband Del and Paul Bortz, Jr. all of Uniontown and Bradley Bortz and wife Elizabeth of Summers, GA, six great-grandchildren: Liam, Donovan and Ronin Kelly, Hayden Bortz, Noemi Bortz and Adyn Duke, brother-in-law, William Steele of Jackson, MS, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Miller and Patricia Miller, many nieces and nephews and his two canine companions, Dachshunds Hans and Sydney.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Wednesday, October 16th, from 5 to 8 PM and on Thursday, October 17th, until 11 AM the hour of service with Pastor David Rasmussen officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Samuel be made to Fayette Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 1282, Uniontown, PA 15401.

Fayette Lodge No. 228 will conduct a Masonic funeral service Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at the Peroni Personal Care Home. They were our extra family for the last three years. They would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their care and support this past year.
