Vernald Leroy Nickerson, Jr.

Vernald Leroy Nickerson, Jr., 69 years, of Footedale, PA, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born April 13, 1949 in Rockland, MD.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernald Leroy Nickerson, Sr. and Gladys Eva (Sanderson) Nickerson, two sisters, Pearl Creso and Beverly Farrington and a brother Arthur Nickerson.

Vernald was a truck driver for Gabriel Brothers Stores and Interstate Paper and attended the Greene Valley Church of God. He walked with the Lord while on earth, devoted his life to those around him and on Thursday went home to be with the Lord.

Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Susan Mae (Anderson) Nickerson, three children, Rachel Mae Vlosich and husband Peter of Adah, PA, Vernald Leroy Nickerson, III and Abigail Joy Nickerson, both of Footedale, a granddaughter, Rebekah Vlosich, five siblings, Eva Bessey and husband Theodore, Mary Mercer and husband Maurice, Betty Parks, Charles Nickerson and wife Juanita and Gladys Hannan and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Monday, July 16th, from 9 AM to noon the hour of service with Pastor Jeff Hathaway officiating. Private interment will be in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, PA.
