Phoebe E. Rose Marano

Phoebe E. Rose Marano, aged 89, of Uniontown, PA, departed this life on October 24, 2024. She was born on December 29, 1934 in Hibbs, PA, to John and Artie Rose. Phoebe was a woman of steadfast love and commitment to her family, friends, and community.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Young, Geraldine Rose, Deed Myers, Madge Burton, and brothers Gene and John Rose.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Pam Cantalamessa, and son-in-law, Joby; her cherished grandchildren, Tito Cantalamessa, Job Cantalamessa and his wife Kim, and Liz Powell and her husband Mike; along with her adored great-grandchildren, grant Dylan, and Cristian, and many nieces and nephews who were like her own children.

Phoebe was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Tom Marano, who predeceased her after 56 years of marriage.

Her professional life was marked by a distinguished 55-year career as an office manager at Parks Moving and Storage, where she was respected as a trailblazer among women. A proud alumna of German Township High School, she was an active participant in the Satin bags investment Club, and the Ralph Cadet Card and dinner club, cherishing the bonds and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Phoebe found spiritual solace and community at St. Therese Church, a faith she embraced wholeheartedly later in her life, sharing this journey with her grandson, Tito. Her home was always a place of warmth and generosity, where she was known for her exceptional meals and open arms, especially to the many children she held dear and mentored throughout her life. If you were one of her kids you knew it by the special bond she created with her love and wisdom. She made everyone feel special with her devotion. One of her last remarks was -Tell the kids I love them.

A Mass in celebration of her life will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 61 Mill Street Uniontown, PA, on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 10 AM. With arrangements entrusted to Shell Funeral Home, Inc. Uniontown, PA. In remembrance of Phoebe, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fayette Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 1282, Uniontown, PA 15401. This gesture honors the memory of Phoebe and her beloved dog, Milo, who was her last pet and is being loved and cared for by her cousin and his wife, Mark and Lou Ann Vavrek. The family would like to thank Dr. Marcy Goisse and Montgomery Medical for all their care and concern, along with OSPTA Hospice, especially Darla, Heather, Brittany, and Karen, all the faithful caregivers at Beechwood who were so kind and patient to her, and Connie Williams, who was her angel. Also, thanks to her devoted neighbors and friends who constantly checked on her, brought her meals, and visited with her. The family offers sincere thanks to all of you who made her final years much more joyful.
