John Paul Burkett

John Paul Burkett, 90, of Lemont Furnace, PA passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born September 7, 1929 in Lemont Furnace.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John Paul and Irene (Sherlock) Burkett, his wife Jacqueline (Paschke) Burkett, a brother, Paul Sherlock and a stepson, Bradley Metz.

John was a member of St. John the Evangelist RC Church. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War and was an Ironworker and member of Ironworkers Local 17 in Cleveland, Ohio. John was a kind and loving father and grandfather and a proud and loyal customer of the Uniontown Eat’n Park Restaurant for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Trudy Burkett of Dunbar, PA, stepsons, Donald Metz of Lemont Furnace and Gary Metz and wife Donna of Cleveland, OH, grandson Quinten Burkett and companion, Maggie Taylor and granddaughter, Ricki Burkett and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Thursday, January 2nd, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Friday, January 3rd, until 9:30 AM when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Amvets General Marshall Post 103, Hopwood, PA.
